Deane's immediate reaction was one of concern and a sense of duty. He knew that he had to do something to ensure the safety of these innocent lives. "I'd do it again," he told USA Today. "If you see something, like a baby in a ditch, say something (and) do something."The weather on that day was reportedly as low as 27 degrees, and Deane's home was around four miles away from the location of the theft. The circumstances surrounding the discovery were both heart-wrenching and inspiring. It was a moment that would change Deane's life and become a story of hope and resilience.

Indianapolis police spokesman William Young expressed the gravity of the situation. "It's cold out here," he said. "Who knows what could have happened if this particular individual was not able to come outside. It's extremely cold, and we're still in our early stages of trying to figure out who was responsible for this."The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was quick to act. They stated on X (formerly known as Twitter) that they were trying to locate the stolen vehicle with a 4-month-old and 5-month-old baby inside. The plate number on the vehicle was 364CMU. The police shared two photos of the babies on X, asking for the public's help in identifying them and finding the person responsible.According to CBS4 Indy, the police are still actively searching for the person who stole the vehicle. Young added to USA Today about Deane, "He did what any good person would do. He got those infants to shelter. This is an outcome that we wanted. I can't thank that good Samaritan enough. We don't have a suspect in custody, but that will be our next priority is figuring out who is responsible for this particular incident."The community has rallied around Deane and the two kidnapped babies, showing their support and gratitude for his selfless act. People have been sharing the story on social media, spreading the message of hope and kindness. This incident serves as a reminder of the power of one person to make a difference in the lives of others.
