Mama June's Quest for a Fresh Start Amidst Heartache
Reasons for Moving
Anna passed away on Dec. 9, 2023, at the age of 29 after being diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma. June explains that the family is having a hard time finding a new place that meets their needs. "Pumpkin and the other girls don't want to come here as they were here when Anna passed," she says. The memories of Anna's last days are constantly present, making it a difficult place to be.However, June also understands why her mother sold her childhood home after her stepfather's death. "I was always mad at my mom for giving away the childhood home. She moved quickly, just a week after my stepdad passed away. But now I get it. It's a constant reminder of everything," she shares.Desired Relocation
June initially wanted to "move back to where I'm from, the Hampton Locust Grove area" in Georgia. She also emphasizes the need for a more metropolitan area with more amenities to give the family more lifestyle choices. This move, she hopes, will help them heal and move forward.Grieving Process
In her interview with PEOPLE, June opens up about the myriad emotions she's experienced while grieving her late daughter. "Some days are good and I can put on a brave face. But then there are days when I just wallow in it. I don't want to do anything, go anywhere, or be bothered," she says. She even went through a slump where she didn't take care of herself for months. "It's like you get in these funks and sometimes I'm just pissed off and mad because I don't understand why it had to happen," she adds.June's story is a reminder of the deep pain and struggle that comes with losing a loved one. But it also shows her determination to move forward and find a new home and a new life.
