Martin Short Teases Friends in SNL Dec. 21 Promo
2024-12-18
In the highly anticipated first promo for the December 21 episode of Saturday Night Live, host Martin Short truly embraced the Christmas spirit. However, his generosity was quite selective as only his "famous friends" were fortunate enough to receive gifts. As Ashley Padilla, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker made their way into Studio 8H, Short, at 74 years old, stood before an amazing holiday display and presented a gift to each of them. But to their surprise, when they opened the boxes, they found them empty. Short then revealed that the "special something" they received was the job of wrapping all his presents for his famous friends, and unfortunately, these three were not included. Short then went on to list some of the gifts he needed help wrapping for his A-list friends like Colin Jost, Steve Martin, and Al Pacino. When presenting a self-help book called "How to Develop a Personality" to Colin Jost, 42, Short quipped that cocaine called him "the challenge." For Al Pacino, 84, Short had a baby rattle, emphasizing that it was not for his actual baby but for him. And for Steve Martin, 79, Short gave him sun tan lotion, teasing that his blood type was mayonnaise as he was whiter than a Coldplay meet and greet. Short's three children, Katherine, Oliver, and Henry, who he shares with his late wife Nancy Dolman, got the final round of gifts as Short held up some glossy photos of himself. As the promo ended, Short wished Padilla, 31, Longfellow, 30, and Walker, 33, a "Merry Christmas" but freaked out when they tried to hug him, telling them to back off. It's clear that this final Saturday Night Live show is filled with unexpected moments and a touch of holiday humor.
