Pittsburgh's Vicious Blade: Local Metal Alloys in 2024
2024-12-18
The Steel City has long been renowned for its metal scene, and Vicious Blade stands out as one of its most prominent acts. Combining the blistering speed of thrash with the ferocity of black metal, they have captured the attention of extreme music fans nationwide and established themselves at the top of their local class.

Unleashing the Intensity of Pittsburgh's Metal Scene

Introduction to Vicious Blade

Vocalist Clarissa Badini, who also performs with international act Castrator, shares her perspective on the band. She grew up in the scene around bands like Derkéta and Lady Beast, and each member of Vicious Blade has been around for a significant time. Their debut LP, Relentless Force, released via Cleveland's Redefining Darkness Records this fall, offers something for everyone willing to explore the far edge of music. Tracks like "Mistress of Death" feature neckbreaking solos, while "Forged Steel" pays homage to 1980s thrash. The seamless blend of classic and contemporary has already made it a standout on year-end best lists.

Badini emphasizes that with each release, the music has become more intense. "We really wanted this album to be super intense," she says. Her dynamic, harsh vocals serve as the binding force for the four instrumentalists' searing delivery.

Future Plans of Vicious Blade

The band will take Relentless Force and their prior catalogue to big festivals next year, including Decibel's Metal & Beer Fest and Northwest Terror Fest in Seattle. In the meantime, they are working on a music video. Badini also mentions their plans for regional mini-runs in 2025, aiming to get out there and play more shows. She hopes to start the writing process all over again, continuing to push the boundaries of their music.

Vicious Blade shows no signs of slowing down. They are committed to bringing their intense sound to audiences far and wide, and their future looks bright in the world of metal.
