The San Francisco 49ers’ star Trent Williams’ wife, Sondra Williams, has bravely opened up about a deeply painful loss. On Sunday, Dec. 1, through an Instagram Reel, she shared the story of their son Trenton O’Brien Williams Jr.’s stillbirth on Nov. 24. The Reel featured images of her baby’s heartbeat, sonogram, and clips and photos of her pregnancy. In a lengthy caption, she referred to her son as her “forever angel.”

Honoring the Forever Angel

It has been an incredibly tough journey for Sondra as she tries to make sense of this most sorrowful experience. On that fateful Sunday night, at 11:38 pm and only 35 weeks into the pregnancy, she welcomed her lifeless 4lb 8oz, 18.5 in long little one. Despite not having time to get an epidural, she was surrounded by her aunt Katina and nurse Hannah. This loss was even more complex as she had already lost Trenton’s twin earlier in the pregnancy. She later learned that Trenton was diagnosed with trisomy 13, a rare genetic condition that is life-threatening. Despite her efforts to prepare, the reality was beyond what she could handle.“My firstborn and only son, I’ve always wanted you, but God wanted and needed you more. Knowing you are in Heaven with your Great-Aunt Vivian and that you will Always be our Guardian Angel brings me great comfort in the midst of all this sorrow,” she expressed. At home, without her son in her arms, the adjustment has been difficult. She struggles to find the words to describe the emptiness, but takes solace in the thought that Trenton is watching over her.“Thank God for allowing us to bond for 35 weeks and for me to birth you so I could hold you in my arms. I’m at peace knowing you will never have to suffer,” she said.Although she will never hear his soft coos and cries or see his beautiful eyes, she is grateful for the time they shared. Madison loved listening to his heartbeat and feeling his movements in her tummy. Trenton O’Brien Williams Jr., her sweet baby boy, will always be their Forever Angel.
