2024-12-16
It's a delightful surprise when series mainstay Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and Danny Strong's Doyle McMaster, who joined the series in season 4, cross paths once again. Their unexpected reunion was captured in a sweet selfie that has left Gilmore Girls fans ecstatic.

Unplanned Link-Up and Instagram Moments

On Monday, Dec. 16, 50-year-old Strong shared a snapshot of himself and 57-year-old Graham on Instagram. In the caption, he wrote, "Look who I ran into last night! It’s the uber talented @laurengraham!!" Plus, he added that Graham is "still as cool and fun as ever!!" The Parenthood actress also reposted the selfie on Instagram Stories, writing, "So fun seeing you! xL."This unplanned reunion comes shortly after Graham had another planned reunion with a Gilmore Girls character, Scott Patterson (Luke Danes). Earlier this month, Graham and 66-year-old Patterson briefly returned to Stars Hollow for a nostalgic new Walmart ad.In the 30-second spot, the stars stepped back into their iconic roles. Sean Gunn, who reprised his role as fan-favorite Kirk, dropped off a special delivery at Luke's Diner. Luke, the coffee-obsessed heartthrob and coffee shop owner, gifted his wife a Keurig coffee maker to fuel her caffeine addiction. And, in true Luke fashion, he joked that she was "drinking him out of business." The ad also called back to one of Lorelai's most iconic moments ("I smell snow!") by ending with the couple standing in the center of Stars Hollow as she basked in the fluffy flakes.Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE ahead of the ad, Graham admitted that "it’s always a little surreal" returning to Stars Hollow. "Because we were back where we’ve been so many times," she said.Patterson raved about his on-screen love interest. Telling PEOPLE, "I’ve never worked with anybody with a better skill set, more grit and just this incredible stamina among the other things that she brings with her humor and her kindness. So it was a real kick in the pants. I got to tell you." He later added, "It was just wonderful to see her and work with her again and Sean as well. I’ll always cherish the time I got to spend with Lauren and act with her because she’s literally an icon. And that is just growing as the years go by."The fans were naturally overjoyed about this crossover. They commented things like, "Absolutely iconic," and "DOYLE AND LORELAI." Others pointed out the photobomber in the back of the selfie, with one person writing, "The person in the back ‘I must be part of this’, that would be me 100%."This mini Gilmore Girls reunion has brought back memories and excitement for fans, showing the enduring charm of the series and its beloved characters.
