The Challenge season 40 has yet to reach its finale, yet fans are already eagerly looking forward to another season of this beloved franchise. MTV made the exciting announcement on Wednesday, December 18th, stating that The Challenge All Stars: Rivals will premiere on Wednesday, January 29th. This new season will feature 13 pairs of competitors who are seeking revenge against one of their greatest rivals in the game.

Unveiling the Rivals Twist

In the first teaser for the new season, Frank Sweeney seems taken aback by the rivals twist when host TJ Lavin makes the announcement. "What the f—?" the 35-year-old Challenge champ exclaims. This marks the first time that All Stars will move from Paramount+ to MTV when it premieres next month. The 21st, 24th, and 28th seasons of the flagship franchise also incorporated the Rivals format.

Returning Stars and Their Hopes

Many familiar faces are returning to the franchise after some time away. 35-year-old Nany González, who is engaged to fellow Challenge star Kaycee Clark, took to Instagram on December 18th, stating, "Back to my old stomping grounds." Katie Cooley, Aneesa Ferreira, Leroy Garrett, KellyAnne Judd, and Devin Walker are coming off the heels of competing on season 40, hoping to finally secure the win that eluded them in Vietnam. 43-year-old Ferreira teased on Instagram, "This season is one not to miss." Derek Chavez, Tori Deal, Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio, Michele Fitzgerald, Rachel Robinson, Cara Maria Sorbello, Jenny West, Jordan Wiseley, and Kyland Young are all still in the race for the title of season 40 winner.
